MSI GT640 with Core i7 and Windows 7

By: Peter Chubb | October 3, 2009 | 2 Comments

Each day we look around it seems that someone is launching a new laptop with an Intel Core i7 processor, just as MSI have with its GT640 15.4-inch gaming laptop. The release date is around October 22, so will come with the much-anticipated Window 7 operating system.

Engadget tell us that the MSI GT640 notebook will also feature the powerful 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250M, this will run like a dream with the quad-core processor, and up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM. Storage comes in the way of a 500GB hard, would have been much smoother with an SSD, hopeful that could be an upgrade option.

The new laptop comes with a number of connectivity options, such as VGA, HDMI, Bluetooth, WiFi, eSATA/USB combo port and two standard USB ports. You will also get a choice of a 6-cell or 9-cell battery. Pricing and an exact release date are yet to be confirmed.

If you’re looking for a notebook with high processor performance and aren’t deterred by a poor keyboard and a high soundscape, you can definitely take the GT640. But if you’re looking for a gaming notebook with the highest possible efficiency, you should rather take a product with a more efficient graphic card (e.g. GeForce GTS 160M & GeForce GTX 260M).
