There have been a number of reports that Toyota would be applying the Prius name to another model in its lineup, which Autoblog explains would have been a Prius sub-brand. However, the second dedicated hybrid from the Japanese automaker will be known as the Toyota Sai.
The new Toyota Sai Hybrid will go on sale from October 20 and will sit nicely between the Prius and the Crown. The new Sai will be very different to the Prius, as it will offer more power thanks to its 2.4-liter gasoline engine. The Toyota Sai is said to look a lot like the Lexus HS 250h, which is pictured above.
Toyota are not giving too much information away as to its overseas plans of its latest Hybrid, but if it did make it to the shores of North America, then the Ford Fusion hybrid will have some strong competition, along with Toyota’s own Camry hybrid.
