Microsoft Bing: Drop In Market Share
By: Alan Ng | October 2, 2009
It has been reported that frequent searchers have used Microsoft’s Bing search page less in September, compared to other months where Bing enjoyed an increase in growth.
As reported from Information Week, it is the first time that Bing has ‘lost’ market share, since it’s launch in May, while Microsoft’s Internet Browser still looks to be suffering compared to the likes of Firefox, Safari and Chrome.
According to NetApplictions, Bing lost 0.2 percentage points, meaning they now have 3.39% share of the global search market. Google lost similar percentage points but they still reign top with 83.13% of the global search.
IW believes that the launch of Windows 7 on October 22nd could turn things around for Microsoft, with their expected barrage of promotional ads to coincide with the launch.
