First Paid Apps for Palm webOS: Download Today
By: Peter Chubb | October 2, 2009
The first batch of paid apps for Palm webOS will be ready for download today; the App catalog will also be much improved. These new paid apps will be tied to your Palm Profile, this will mean two things, apps that have been deleted can be re-downloaded for free, also if you purchase a new Palm device once you sign in to your Palm Profile, you will be able to have all of your apps on your handset, such as the Pre.
Pre Central also explains how the new 1.2 feature allows for Universal Search; this will mean that you can look for apps that are based on hidden tags. Therefore, if you type, “SMS”, this could bring up “Messaging.” These sorts of tags are made available for developers.
Pre Central thinks that the feature that allows you to re-download a deleted app will be of great use to a user, as they know that they are always safe if they delete an app by mistake. The new Paid Apps for webOS is only available for North America at the moment; Canada will have to wait a little longer.

Hmm..apparently Canada is not part of North America!
Thanks for the info, this is very exciting news indeed but being in Canada and going from an iPhone with 140 apps to a Palm Pre with no paid apps and having to wait even longer really sucks! For now.
