We have a PS3 vs Xbox 360 image comparison guide for you to take a look at now, for the newly released action-adventure game, Brutal Legend, from Electronic Arts.
The comparison comes from GamesWire, who have taken a series of screenshots from both platforms and listed them side by side for you to check out.
In their opinion, they think the Xbox 360 version of Brutal Legend looks better, highlighting that it is ‘less jaggy’ and features better textures than the PS3 version.
From what we can see though, there isn’t too much to tell the two versions apart, if any. Take a look for yourself in the link above, then let us know your thoughts on this.

It’s probably because, like most PS3 games, it’s rendered at 720p. I know a lot of 360 games aren’t 1080p native but the noisy box does a great job of pumping them up to that res and they always look better than the PS3 version.
People argue that there’s no difference and why do people car but these people must have lower res or lower quality TVs because I can tell the difference. I played Fight Night 4 yesterday on the PS3, which is 1080p and I have to say it looks stunning.
Unless your tv is 37″ or above your eye can’t not tell the difference between 720 and 1080. The only reason you’ll see graphic differences below 37″ is because of the way various parts are rendered differently on each machine. In some cases neither of them are techincally worse they’re just different and it becomes something of preference.
The lead platform will often effect which version looks better due to lead platform being the only version built fully from the ground up.
The other thing you have to remember is a screen shot doesn’t show the transition between frames which means a worse screenshot can actually produce a better game visually when running.
One final point and that is that they are comparing DEMO’S not the final product which makes the whole comparison pointless as demo’s are noramlly from a far earlier build.
of course you can tell the difference ive got a 42 inch phillips ambilight and a crappy 50 inch baird they are really different in quality it does not matter what tv you play on its down to the console……………….. im using a 21.5 inch acer monitor to play waw zombies and its better than both my big tv 1080p all the way i can tell difference anyway
I’m with jimmyd on this one, & from my own experience.
I recently destroyed a 40″ 720p Samsung TV by means of a bouncing Dual Shock 3. It has been replaced with a 40″ 1080p Samsung (couldn’t find a 720p at that size in our local retailers).
Neither me, nor my partner can tell the slighest bit of difference in the picture.
To further support this theory is the fact that our 720p had a deal pixel just left of centre. Even on a completely white screen (dead pixels being black) you couldn’t see it unless you got really close to the tv, & it was completely unnoticable under normal viewing.
I think 1080p is useful on larger screen (50″+) but under that it’s just a number for the sake of it.
On the other hand, the new telly sounds better.
Oh, & Slippy Sloppy, just to clarify. Not one 360 game natively supports 1080p as the 360 only natively goes up to 1080i. Although it does have a separate upscaling chip that goes to 1080p.
Back on subject. I can barely tell the difference on these screenshots, but PS3 games do generally look a bit softer than the 360 due to the quidditch aliasing (or whatever they call it!) whereas the 360 uses PC style anti-aliasing.
To me it looks as if they have taken a screenshot and just added the white line to seperate them.
sorry should have said taken the screenshot from only one console then added the white line
I’m no expert on graphics but usually you can tell when the PS3 is lower resolution because they use a blur effect to hide the jaggies like in GTA4, but this doesn’t seem blurry so i’m not sure if it is lower res or if the 360 version just has better anti-aliasing, there’s not much in it either way but some of the textures do look slightly better on the 360.
The important thing is what the games look like in motion not in screenshots and the PS3 titles usually now look better. For instance GTA4 was a lower res on the PS3 but looked better than the 360 version.
@Slippy Sloppy
There are no 360 games which are 1080p native. The PS3 has loads.
@Karlo
I don’t want to get into an argument over minor details but i’ve played GTA4 on both 360 & PS3, the 360 looks sharper in comparison, the blur on the PS3 version is to try & hide the jaggies, it’s only a minor detail but the 360 definately comes out on top & not the other way round as you suggest.
I bought it on 360 for the dlc content, my nephew has it on PS3, if it wasn’t for the dlc i’m not sure the minor differences would have been a factor in which version i bought more likely i’d have just gone for the best deal.
