Apple Tablet Multitouch: Recognizes Palms and all Fingers

Apple have been busy with the patent office once again, they have recently put in a new patent application for a new Multitouch surface which will allow you to place both palms and all fingers and thumbs on to the surface. This will mean that all of your digits could be used for typing and other gestures; one device that this would work well on is the much rumored “Apple Tablet.”

Engadget have learned from Apple Insider that Morrison and Foerster LLP filed the patent in June 2009; this was on behalf of Apple. In the lengthy document, it explains how the proposed system would work. We first learned of this new multi touch system back in 2008, but Apple has since expanded on its details of the technology.

Mutitouch is a great system at the moment, but we know that it needs more work done to become more accurate, and this new system could be the answer. We are not certain how far Apple have gone with the technology, but it is assumed that it would be the perfect feature for the iTablet.
