Following on from one of our articles yesterday that Toyota announced a recall of 3.8 million vehicles. The reason for the recall is a simple yet dangerous one, as floor mates in the vehicles can press down on the accelerator; this is a very serious problem, one that has to be solved quickly.
In the video below, it begins to discuss about Toyota’s biggest recall. Chris Richter, a seiner analyst for CLSA explains what kind of an impact this recall will have on the Japanese auto giant. He goes on to explain that it will not have a huge financial effect on the company, but it will not be good for their reputation, saying, “It comes at a bad time.”
We know that the issue of the floor mates has been around for a while now, but we only learned yesterday the scale of the problem. As we mentioned above, 3.8 million vehicles are affected by the recall.
The U.S. Department of Transportation has said that the issue is critical, Richter said that it is a safety issue and any safety issue is important, something that Toyota needs to address immediately. Toyota has already seen this issue have a huge effect on it shares, and will get much worse until the issue is fully resolved.
One thing is certain; this could not have come at a worse time for the auto industry
