By: Peter Chubb | September 30, 2009 | Leave a CommentSubaru is known for its innovation with all-wheel drive technical, the automaker is about to take the next step at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show next month with the new Subaru Hybrid Tourer Concept. The two power sources will work in conjunction with each other to try to offer you the best fuel-saving options.
The main power unit will be the 2-liter “Boxer” engine, complete with a turbocharger and direct injection. This engine will send the power to the front wheels as and when it needs too. The Subaru Hybrid Tourer will also use a Lineartronic CVT transmission to allow for maximum fuel efficiency.
There is to be a 10 kW motor offering power as and when needed, a second 20 kW electric motor will also send power to the rear wheels when driving at low speeds and when an extra boost of power is needed.
Subaru has managed to stick with a flat floor plan design, as the front-mounted engine means that there is no need for a driveshaft. For further information, visit Autoblog
