
Sony DRX-S70U-W: New External DVD Recorder
By: Jamie Pert | September 30, 2009 | Leave a CommentWith the boost in sales of Netbooks over last year or so many people are finding that the lack of optical drive is a bit of a hindrance, for this reason many people are now opting to buy external drives, one new external drive is the Sony DRX-S70U-W.
The drive uses USB 2.0 connectivity for data transfer and is compatible with all popular formats of discs, these include CD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R9 and DVD-RAM, it has a maximum CD burning speed of 24x, a maximum DVD burning speed of 8x and a maximum DVD DL burning speed of 6x, you can see a breakdown of speeds here.
The system requirements for the drive are pretty low, hardware wise you must have a processor which is at least a Pentium III 1.0GHz with 256MB of RAM and at least 1GB of free hard drive space, however to use the drive to its full potential it is recommend that you have at least a Pentium 4 2.0GHz with 512MB of RAM and 10GB’s of free space, the drive will run on any Windows OS from XP onwards.
