Halloween Costumes in 2009: Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey
By: Peter Chubb | September 30, 2009
Halloween is just around the corner and The National Retail Federation has said that not all the things associated with Halloween will be the only scary thing this year. According to NRF’s 2009 Halloween Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey, consumer will spend about $10 less this year, this will certainly have an effect on the Halloween costume that you by in 2009.
The Business Journal of Milwaukee has looked closely at the survey and it shows that consumers are expected to spend at least $56.31 on Halloween, compare that to $66.54 the previous year. The survey shows that consumers will spend $4.75 billion over the Halloween period.
This certainly shows that the recession is hitting everything that we do; consumers will now hope that Black Friday 2009 will be the best yet. 88 percent of consumers are expected to spend less this year for Halloween, 37 percent will buy less candy for the kids, looks like there will be more tricks than treats this year then.
35 percent of people will spend less on decorations and 17 percent choosing to make their own costumes instead. Making your own costumes is a great idea; this way the family can get more involved and have much more fun.
