AT&T TerreStar Genus: New smartphone with Satellite network
By: Alan Ng | September 30, 2009 | Leave a CommentTerreStar Networks have just announced and unveiled their new Genus smartphone that will be coming to AT&T in the first quarter of 2010. The phone has a unique dual-mode ability, allowing you to switch between AT&T’s Wireless network as well as a separate satellite network, whenever the wireless network is unavailable.
As reported from Computer World, the phone has been labelled ‘ideal’ by both companies who think that the phone could save lives in an emergency situation where normal wireless signal is disrupted.
Features include a 2.6-inch diagonal touchscreen, MMS, QWERTY keyboard, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3 megapixel camera and MicroSD support. It will also come equipped with the latest Microsoft Office Mobile software.
If you’re interested in picking this up, it will be available for around $800-900, although price has not been confirmed exactly yet. As we mentioned above, the phone is out next year. Let us know your thoughts on this handset.
