TomTom Car Kit for iPhone: Still not on Apple Store

We reported that the North American Apple Store was down this morning, we had hoped that Apple would offer us further details of the TomTom Car Kit for the iPhone, but they have failed to put it up on their site. Those wishing to purchase the new TomTom Car Kit are still left with more questions than answers.

We had reported the other day that Apple had put the new car Kit up on its Store and they had stated that it would come with the TomTom turn-by-turn app included in its price. We have since learned from a number of sources that you will have to pay for the app on top of the price, due to the confusion, the product was taken offline, and has not been seen since.

We have received a tip from one of our readers; Apple told them that if you had already purchased the “TomTom U.K. & Ireland” application, then when you purchase the car kit/application package they would be happy to refund the purchase of “TomTom U.K. & Ireland” app.

Apple still have not made it clear if the TomTom Car Kit will actually come with the app included in the price, or if they will refund the money to those who have purchased the app already. We only have one user’s word; we just hope that Apple verifies what is going on.
