Sony have recently announced their latest Alpha DLSR, the camera is called the a550 and features a 14.2 megapixel sensor, you can see a video showing off many aspects of the upcoming camera at the end of this post (however the video is in Japanese).
It is thought that the a550 is aimed towards a wide customer base and is easy to use for beginners whilst still offering the functionality which experienced users would expect, one nice feature the camera offers for beginners is a AUTO-HDR mode.
The camera features a 3 inch LCD with LiveView and accepts both Memory Stick and SDHC memory cards, the ISO range is 200 to 1600 however there is an extended mode which pushes this to 12800.
It is thought that the camera will be released in Japan sometime in October, however an officially release date has not been announced, there have been no hints towards a US release date yet.
Prices are said to be around 95000 Yen which is roughly the equivalent of around €725, for more information including a few photos check AkihabaraNews’s article here.
