As most of you will be aware, Palm released their webOS update this week adding various fixes and new features to Palm Pre owners. One feature that didn’t make a return was the infamous iTunes Sync, which now looks to be gone for good.
As reported from Apple Insider, we have learned that the USB Implementers Forum have sided with Apple over the dispute, claiming that the Palm Pre’s apparent use of Apple’s vendor ID violates its rules.
As a result of this, the USB IF believes that it is Apple’s decision to limit iTunes syncing to proprietary hardware like their iPhone and iPod via use of the USB vendor ID, however they see fit.
Let us know your thoughts on this. Are you disappointed that the Pre can no longer benefit from iTunes Syncing? Theres more details over at Apple Insider.

I don’t want nor do I have iTunes Sync on my computer anyway.
Just in the last couple of days I have read of various “crap” Apple has installed in their updates that make me feel less secure. The Apple bonjour program being one of them. I am never paying for music anyway so I have no reason to use iTunes.
Apple made a mistake by just going with AT&T and made another by making the sync proprietary.
They are getting as bad as Microsoft.
The I-Phone is a fad , and like all phones it will fade into the air. While Palm as they’ve been around a whole lot longer will continue to make better phones. They did invent the PDA in the first place and the TREO was a great phone. The Palm PRE is the beginning of a new era. You can hardly even compare the two. The PRE is in a league of its own.
Who care about Itunes and sync. Get an Ipod.
Were talking about phone quality and PRE wins that one.
Just look at the Iphone complaints about it.
I prefer the itunes sync verses the drag and drop method. It easily takes care of all my album artwork too. The only downside is that it doesn’t handle play counts so it won’t update my smart playlists.
