By: Jamie Pert | September 29, 2009 | Leave a CommentIf you are an Android developer and you have one of “ HTC’s distinctive Dream-based Dev Phone devices” you will be happy to hear that the company’s website are now offering Android 1.6, if you would like to download it follow this link.
A new introductory video has also been released which gives us a quick insight into Android 1.6, this video can be at the end of this post. The video shows of a few new improvements and tweaks, these include support for CDMA, an improved quick search function and also improved graphical rendering.
The improved graphical rendering is said to enable “applications to be rendered properly on different display resolutions and density’s”, this should allow developers to ensure their applications look good on a wide range of Android devices.
The new and improved quick search box is perhaps the best addition, when using the quick search function the software will automatically suggest relevant search results as you type, these suggested results also take your current location into account, you can also customize exactly what sources the quick search function uses.
There are also improvements to the Android market and a new text to speech system which allows text to be read out in the correct accent, to find out more check out the video below or you can check our SlashGear’s article here, or head over to developer.android.com.
