Xerox has announced that they are to purchase ACS Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), in a deal worth $6.4 Billion. Xerox hopes that this deal will allow them to expand beyond its current business plan, which is document management.
According to reports from PC World, the deal with ACS will more than triple Xerox’s revenue from services; the figure will go from $3.5 billion a year to $10 billion a year. There are only a few outsourcers that were yet to be tied to Xerox; it was only a matter of time before the hardware vendor made a play for Dallas-based ACS.
This news is just the latest in the line of takeovers, we recently reported that computer maker Dell was to purchase Perot Systems for $3.9 billion. This will not be the last independents to be swallowed up by bigger companies, some others that run the risk include, Unisys and Infosys Technologies.
