Freecom USB 3.0 Portable Drive: One of the earliest devices
By: Alan Ng | September 28, 2009 | Leave a CommentFreecom have just introduced one of the earliest USB 3.0 devices, with their new portable hard drive. It has the ability to churn out faster data-transfer rates than that seen in USB 2.0 drives.
As reported from ComputerWorld, Freecom are labelling it their ‘Hard Drive XS 3.0′, which can transfer data at approximately 130MB/sec, around 10 times quicker than their USB 2.0 devices.
Freecom are also stating that their new device can transfer a 5GB file to another host device in just 38 seconds, sounds pretty impressive to us.
The Hard Drive XS 3.0 will be available in 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB varieties, with pricing starting at $175 for the 1TB version. It will be available in Europe first, with an expected release due in November.
