PS3 Firmware v3.10: Cross-game Voice Chat coming

We have some exciting news to share with you now, as it has been revealed that cross-game PS3 voice chat will be coming via a firmware update in October. It will put months and months of frustration to rest for PS3 gamers, who have often been placed this feature top of their wanted lists.
The news is according to well-respected gaming site VG247, who have been informed via their source who states that Sony has spoken to developers about the upcoming feature.
They claim that PS3 Firmware update v3.10 will be released towards the end of October and that cross-game voice-chat will be one of the features contained.
Considering this is VG247 and not just some random site, we have to say we’re pretty excited by the news. Let us know what you think of this.

All I have to say its about darn time man!! Its kind of frustrating having your friends send a message all the time they want to ask you something and you have to stop your game to answer, only to get another message on the top right hand corner. With cross chat you’ll be able to play while talking and dont have to stop your gameplay. This is the final patch necessary for the ps3 to have the best online experience.
thats gud dat its comming but wat about….. in-game music…. no good game till now has got it, except killzone2…. we want it in EVERY GAME…. daammit….
Will this update fix the problem firmware 3.00 and 3.01 have been giving ps3ers like me? the problem where my ps3 will not read any disks? i downloaded 3.01 2 days ago and ever sense error 80010017 pops up during the startup operation for playing a game, so i cant paly any one of my 10 ps3 games. Before i downloaded it my ps3 worked perfect! it is 22 months old, with no problems before… this update better work so i can play COD:MW2 the day it comes out!
does anyone know if it will adress this problem, please comment asap
I have had the same problem as the user below and have not been able to play my disks for around 1 month and 2 weeks now i am also hoping this update will fix this problem! and fast cause i want to play uncharted 2 =(
i agree in game music is a must EA has done it with BURNOUT and SKATE2 nothing like playing your fav game with your fav playlist spinning
