iPhone MMS Update: Details of AT&T release

As most of you will be aware, the highly anticipated MMS update from AT&T is expected to go live today at somepoint this morning for all iPhone users. While we have confirmed that some of you have already received the update, many are still waiting for the update to appear.

As we reported to you yesterday, AT&T confirmed that the update is ‘expected’ to go live towards the ‘late morning’ to iPhone customers on the Pacific time zone. Well thats not too long away now, so you should start checking out iTunes to see if the update has become available.

It’s quite a strange situation, as we know there are a lot of you who have already unlocked the MMS features with no problems, but for others, this process is proving to be quite difficult.

As we await the update to go live, let us know if you have already been prompted to install in your area, or if you are still waiting for notification.

iTunes? It’s my impression that the last update (3.1) was the one. All AT&T needs to do is turn it on.

  2. drew says:

    It’s a carrier update file

Well I am confused, I have already gotten the 3.1 update. So are they just going to release the 3.1 update again with the MMS on it?

  4. Alan says:

My itunes received the new carrier settings. MMS is now a GO!

Check your Itunes updates. Its not another 3.1 update but just a carrier settings update.

I restarted the iPhone. Tried to send a picture and it showed it sending on a bar to about 95% and then didn’t fill anymore. Then I got the red “!” and it said there was an error.

My friend sent me a picture and it arrived fine. Then I tried to send the picture to her again. Again, it went to 95% and stopped. This time I shook the iphone and it the picture was sent.

I think the servers are overwhelmed by millions of people trying to do this. I am sure it will stabilize after the novelty wears off.
