Sony must be smiling three weeks after the launch of its new PS3 Slim, as the console has managed to shift 1 million units in that short time. There are a number of attributing factors, but the main reason has to be the price cut. We reported yesterday that there had been a 14,000 percent increase in Japan alone
When the new PlayStation 3 Slim was first launched I was not too keen on the new design, but I have now grown to like it and I am sure that a number of you felt the same. Engadget have said that they would like to see the “auction sales statistics for the same three weeks.”
While speaking to a number of friends, I asked them what drew them to purchasing the new console; they said that there were a number of factors involved; it was not just the new attractive price. They liked the fact that it ran quieter and that the new console now uses much less power.
So will the PS3 Slim keep up with this trend and keep shifting more units?

It doesn’t run quieter, that’s a Sony created myth. If anything it’s louder than the original 60GB machines.
