Jaguar Land Rover who is owned by Tata Motors, has announced the news that they are to close one of its factories in England’s West Midlands, while offering news jobs at one of their other plants. The automaker has done this in its constant struggle to make a profit.
Bloomberg reports that spokesman Paul Chadderton said that there will be no compulsory firings. Chadderton did not say how many will be lost at the plant. However, we do know that more than 800 new jobs will be created at the Halewood factory in Liverpool. The plant will build the LRX, a new smaller fuel-efficient Range Rover model
Jaguar Land Rover have cut 2,200 jobs since last September alone, and in July announced that they were to cut another 300 jobs. The demand for the Jaguar Land Rover’s vehicles have slumped by at least 60 percent, it is hoped that the LRX will help to increase sales.
