Used Tata Nano Cost 30% More Than New

Tata Nano has certainly proved popular in India, and will hopefully become as successful once the small cheap car is launched in the United States. It does seem that Indian drivers will do anything to own a Nano, but purchasing a used model for 30% more than the cost of a new model certainly seems strange.

AutoBlog learnt from Australian website Drive that Tata cannot keep up with the huge demand for these cheap vehicles. As a result of this, Tata launched a lottery system for the first 100,000 customers. More than 200,000 customers are still waiting in the queue to get their hands on the Nano.

Drive first thought that the heavy demand was from families looking to purchase a car for $2,500, but it seems that people have acquired a fetish for the small city car. Arif Fazulbhoy recently told the Australian website that wealthy India people are paying more for a secondhand model just so they can get their hands on what is thought to be a trendy model.
