IPhone cleared in South Korea: LG and Samsung’s Competition
By: Peter Chubb | September 23, 2009 | Leave a CommentApple will now be allowed to sell their iPhone in South Korea, as authorities have now cleared the iPhone for sale. This is seen as a huge gift for Apple, as they will now be able to bring some competition to South Korea’s LG and Samsung.
PC World reports that a spokesman for a government regulator said that Apple have been allowed to sell its iPhone Smartphone in a “flexible” application of local law by the Korea Communications Commission. If Apple would not have been cleared, then they would have had to use a local operator to run the location services.
This move will only benefit users in Korea, as they will now have more choice. We recently reported that Apple had to remove Wi-Fi from its iPhone, so that it could be cleared for sale in China. It seems that Apple will do anything to get in to these huge new markets.
