Twitter hackers: Fake Antivirus Software on the rise

It has been revealed that spammers are frequently using computer-generated Twitter accounts to post messages, in an attempt to entice users to click links to a website which hosts fake Windows antivirus software.

According to Computer World, the Twitter accounts uses varied usernames and are designed to represent U.S Twitter personalities. Other tactics used by the dodgy accounts include the use of customized wallpapers, which try to portray the idea that it is a real person’s account.

CW reports that these Tweets then provide links to sites that try to trick unsuspecting users into downloading and installing fake security software, often called “scareware” because they fool users with fake infection warnings.

Yes! in twitter, there are lot spammers, who do follow and make people follow using some automatic software. These spammers they not only make and form a network, but also provide info which are fake. So when there is a tweet the followers believe it to be true.

Its always safe if a person, who visits a link from a tweet checks, how genuine is the link etc and then proceed. Moreover its not advisable to download exe’s until the user is aware thats it from a reputed software company or developer.

    Nice posting!
