Nissan GT-R Transmission Failures: Class action suit settled

About a year ago, AutoBlog had reported about a Nissan GT-R owner who had to spend $20,000 to replace his transmission. This transmission failure occurred when the owner used his launch control system (LC1). Nissan had dropped the launch control system, but then developed a new version (LC2).

A number of owners of the first batch of Nissan GT-R have now joined forces and launched a class action suit against the carmaker; there hope is to receive compensation for the replacement transmissions. That suit has since been settled last week in California.

The verdict of the suit is as follows, if you are the owner of an LC1 system, they will now have their warranties reset for 5 years/60,000 miles, which is once they upgrade to LC2. In addition, if you use LC2 and have your VDC on and something breaks, then you will be pleased to know that you are covered.
