2010 bringing WiMAX-enabled Android phone on Sprint
By: Peter Chubb | September 21, 2009 | Leave a CommentPC World were at the recent 4G World Conference, they spent some time talking to a number of wireless carriers, analysts as well as handset makers. PC World has concluded that we will see possible a Samsung Android Smartphone with WiMAX by 2010 and the carrier looks to be Sprint.
Sprint have already confirmed that they are to launch a 4G Smartphone, but they have not let slip any details as to who the maker of the handset is, they have not even offered up any details as to the OS which will run the cell phone.
According to PC World, a WiMax-connected device is said to be around three or five times faster than an iPhone running on 3G. The new device will have a host of new apps that will help to exploit that speed, such as HD and no lag watching SlingBox video.
Sprint has put a lot of faith into WiMax, as they own percent of WiMax carrier Clearwire. Offering a WiMAX-enabled Android phone will certainly go down well with users.
