iPhone 4G, LTE, and where Verizon and AT&T are?

By: Jamie Pert | September 18, 2009 | 12 Comments

Over the last few months we have heard a lot of rumors regarding the iPhone 4G, most of the talk has surrounded what carrier the handset will launch on, it is thought that Apple may switch to Verizon for their 4G iPhone, mainly due to the fact that there are a lot of disgruntled AT&T customers.

It seems AT&T’s 4G developments are further behind then its competitors, however a senior representative recently insisted that “slow and steady will win the race”. Verizon seem to currently still be on track for a early 2010 launch date for their LTE technology.

Rather than giving us full details on their plans AT&T are mainly making statements such as “It’s not just about speed, it’s about the whole customer experience.”, however in my opinion its about time AT&T started to release further details. Check out examiner.com’s article for more information.

    Um those designs suck…… kinda

Also 4G isn’t ready yet so how can they release a 4G phone when the 4G standard isn’t even ready yet…

There in beta with WiMax and so far only Sprint has implemented it fully… It’s the only network so far

why is it that people do not get the difference between then and than:

I just switched from Sprint to AT&T and I must say that I am dissatisfied. I hate the AT&T service, so guys, stick with sprint. I remember i never had dropped calls. Also dont switch, the iphone is not what everyone says. A friend of mine has verizon and I must say, that sucks just as bad. So i say go get a palm pre, because the price is better for the service. If you must, get verizon, at least they have cool marketing commercials, and people are complaining a lot.

At dude1.. yea man dont worry your time is coming. Only 12 months or so and then, we’ll have it on a different service, for now stick to whatever “shitty” phone you have to, not worth the switching to AT&T.

I’ve cycled through Sprint, T-Mobile, Cingular/AT&T and finally Verizon, by far Verizon is the best carrier for my area (Southwest USA). I’ve been using the LG Dare (which I disrespectfully call the iPhone want-to-be) and hate it. My friends have the iPhone and love it but are disappointed with AT&T. I did not like AT&T when I had it before and wont go back. Many folks I talk to can’t wait for Verizon to offer the iPhone, and I too will be waiting in line to get it once they offer it. I recommend shorting the AT&T stock once this happens ’cause I hear many people will be leaving AT&T for Verizon.

LTE is not a 4G compliant standard. LTE is 3.5G at best. “LTE Advanced” will be 4G.
