Apple’s New iPhone 3.1 OS: Complaints of bugs

We have some more feedback to give you now, following the many complaints that users have been stating since Apple rolled out the iPhone 3.1 OS update.

As reported from TheRegister, users are calling this iPhone update the ‘worst ever’, with problems including dropped calls, poor battery life, WiFi problems and issues with the tethering service.

Another big issue is the failed Microsoft Exchange syncing problem, which we wrote about in detail yesterday. While some of you will argue that your iPhone has been fine in relation to the problems mentioned above, there is a greater number who need apply.

Apple are going to have to address the sheer volume of complaints coming in, before it gets out of hand. Let us know if you have anything else to add on this subject.

    after recent update to 3.1 i have frequently got the “No Sim Installed”

    So frustrated with this upgrade! i use the phone for business and its dropping calls and freezing every 10 mins! complaint going in for sure!

    yeah thanks to the new update my phone turns off randomly about three times a day and can only be turned on by holding both the sleep and home buttons

    Mine’s slow and slower at waking from screen lock (sometimes it takes longer that the 20 rings I have set and I fail to answer the call) and is often very slow at responding to screen touches.

    It was fine prior to 3.1.

    Incidentally to the other Matt, mine does the same but I’ve been attributing it to a complete failure to wake from screen lock rather than switching off.

    Terrible software. Phone randomly freezes, while the case is getting warm, afterwards the battery is empty. In principle battery life is below 12 hrs with normal usage. Sometimes slow reaction. No GPS function.

    I’m having exactly this same issue – no sim installed problem – freuently.

    Ever since that last 3.1 update my iphone does not come out of sleep mode and I have to do a hard reboot to get my phone back. This happens daily and its irritating! They need to fix this immediately for my phone has been reduced to that of a paperweight!

    I thought it was incompetence that many of my contacts got dropped when I traded in my last phone to an iphone, but nothing compared to complete loss of contacts, calender, etc when my phone froze and I had to restore my phone after the 3.1 update. Lay people like myself stand no chance of outsmarting Apple on this one. Doorstop indeed.

    This is why I don’t install new updates of anything right away. It is best to wait a week or two to see if problems develop.

    Mine just doesn’t register missed calls or even voicemail. And it no longer updates programs like twitter or facebook even though I have full 3G service.

    Issues with ALLKIT FM transmitter. Worked great with 3.0.x after upgrading to 3.1 it stop working. I though I had issues with my ALLKIT but when i pluged my wife iPhone (3.0.1) it worked great! My wife did the upgrade (by mistake) to 3.1 and ouch… her’s stop to work too…

    The funny part, it plays the music but you can’t hear the person calling you anymore!

    Since the update my phone randomly just freezes out of no where. It will seem like it’s fine because my signal strength will have at least 4 out if 5 bars but when I try to make a call it just hangs there doing nothing, if someone attempts to call me my phone doesn’t ring it sends them right voicemail, text messaging will no longer send or receive and internet access fails as well as any app that needs to access the web to work. Apple needs to fix this ASAP because it has daily reduced my phone to pretty and sleek paperweight.

    This version of the iPhone is probabaly the most worse of them all. The lock screen sometimes takes a bit to load to slide the bar then when recieving messages instead of a ring it vibrates or doesnt either very bad update indeed this is making me go to another phone.
