Google Buys reCAPTCHA
By: Alan Ng | September 17, 2009 | Leave a CommentGoogle have announced that they will be teaming up with internet fraud prevention firm reCAPTCHA, in a move that will help protect Google’s range of online product services.
As reported from iTProPortal, reCAPTCHA is a system originally developed at Carnegie Mellon University. Google see the partnership as a ideal way of preventing ‘bots’ from creating fake accounts, by putting a check on spamming activities.
The move will now pave the way for Google to ‘digitise’ millions of printed books and newspapers, as well as upgrading their existing security for their online services.
