Claims of Microsoft funding PS3 game development
Filed under: Gaming, Sony Playstation 3

According to a recent article on SankakuComplex it seems that Namco was apparently paid off by Microsoft to secure an “exclusive” game, however a developer recently revealed that this pay off was used to reduce developments costs on a PS3 version.
It seems that the game in question is “Tales of Vesperia” and due to the fact that the game will not sell well in Japan they decided to port the game to PS3, therefore as the game was already done the development costs were a lot lower, however then Sony demanded that they wanted their version of the game to be unique and wanted the PS3 version to include “a lot of extra stuff”.
The result of all this is that Microsoft had paid Namco to develop an exclusive game for them, however in the end Namco pretty much funded a better version of the game with Microsoft’s money, exactly whether or not Microsoft are aware of this and whether it is true is not currently known, however we will keep you updated as we find out more. Check out SankakuComplex for more information, however I must warn you that the link may not be safe work, click to here to see their article.

Awesome, in every sense of the word. S-E has to pony up in order to crawl back onto Sony’s platforms. MS has to pony up to break a million in Japan, and PS3 owners benefit.
Good to hear, although, I think this may affect purchasing decisions in Japan from now on, given SO4 and ToV are now multi-platform titles. I’m betting there’s a few pissed off gamers out East.
Nice Sony wins again. Microsoft just got played big time sweet.
