
HP MediaSmart Home Servers: EX495 and EX490
By: Jamie Pert | September 15, 2009 | Leave a CommentHP today have released some new versions of their HP MediaSmart Home Servers, there are a few new models but we will talk about two of them, one of them is the new HP MediaSmart EX495 and the other is the HP MediaSmart EX490.
Both of the EX490 and the EX495 support up to 7TB of internal storage, both servers are also based on Windows Home Server, however on top of the functionality that Windows Home Server offers HP have added more software capabilities, these features allow Mac users now get admin features and also iPhone and iPod Touch’s can stream media of the server.
The EX490 has an Intel Celeron processor, 1TB of storage and will set you back $549, the EX495 has an Intel Pentium DualCore processor, 1.5TB of storage and will set you back $699, for full details including HP’s full press release check out Engadget.
