According to a recent article on ComputerWorld and a Mac researcher, Apple have missed an opportunity to further lock down Snow Leopard, the particular security method that Apple didn’t implement is known as address space layout randomization (ASLR).
According to the researchers at the “ Baltimore-based Independent Security Evaluators” Microsoft perfected ASLR nearly three years ago in Windows Vista, it seems that the ASLR in Snow Leopard has absolutely no changes to the version in Leopard.
ASLR is (according to ComputerWorld) “the technology randomly assigns data to memory to make it tougher for attackers to determine the location of critical operating system functions, and thus make it harder for them to craft reliable exploits”.
To be honest my knowledge of ASRL security is not great, however if you would like to read a fully detailed article on the security check out ComputerWorld’s two-page article.
