US Nintendo Wii Sales: 6 months of decline
By: Alan Ng | September 14, 2009 | Leave a CommentIt has been reported that US sales of the Nintendo Wii are set to decline throughout this month, as we enter the all-important holiday season. On the other hand, Sony and Microsoft are now reaping the benefits of recent price cuts to the PS3 and Xbox 360.
That is according to this article over at GamesIndustry.Biz, who have quoted industry analyst Michael Pachter. Recent figures have indicted that Wii sales for the month of August were at 227,400 units, which is down 39 per cent compared to August of last year.
Pachter thinks that this trend is going to continue, unless Nintendo introduce fresh deals or incentives to engage consumer interest again.
He explains: ”We expect year-over-year sales of Wii hardware to continue their annual declines until the company either changes its bundle or lowers price”
