iPhone 3.1 OS Update: Anti-phishing defense inconsistent

It has been reported that the iPhone 3.1 OS Update - released especially for its new security meaures, is actually pretty inconsistent, especially Apple’s new anti-phishing defense.

That’s according to this article from Computer World, who have stated that some users have been receiving warnings on their screens about dangerous links.

That’s not all either as users are still able to surf illegal websites on their iPhones, so much for added security eh Apple?

CW have even quoted security experts who have said Apple’s new 3.1 OS is ‘worse’ than having no defence at all.

Have you had any issues with the new anti-phishing feature in Safari? Let us know what you think of it. Full article over at Computer World.

  1. I guess if you are an oblivious teenager or have just crawled out from under a rock, you need to be saved from yourself as far as not falling for phishing attempts. I think most of us recognize phishing when we see it.
I don’t want the government, or Apple, deciding for me what web-sites I can and cannot “surf”.
