Palm Pre, iPhone, and BlackBerry: The Communication Pipes

It is evident today that a lot of people choose handsets depending on performance and functionality, however quite often people overlook something very important, the carrier. All of today’s most advanced handsets really push the barriers of 3G networks, therefore the next era of handsets will be extremely reliant on high performing networks.

It wasn’t too long ago that carriers only had to provide a service for handsets which were capable of sending SMS and performing voice calls, however since then handsets have moved on, it started with picture-messaging and has quickly moved on to video calls and full Internet connectivity.

With talks of a possible iPhone 4G in the near future it seems that carriers such as Verizon and AT&T are going to have to significantly upgrade their networks, if not future BlackBerry’s, iPhone’s and Palm handsets will have to choose their exclusive networks wisely. There is also the BlackBerry Alliance programme of partners who work under contract with Research In Motion to innovate new applications to differentiate the BlackBerry solution. Typical applications include mobile call recording, digital dictation, GPS tracking, CRM and expense management. —————-I hipe that helps John. You’re welcome, Rudy, the Blackberry Guy.
