Palm Pixi (aka Pixie) vs. iPhone 3G

A new article on FastCompany looks into the upcoming Palm Pixi handset which is expected to be available in the near future, the article mainly concentrates on how the Palm Pixi compares to the iPhone 3G (due to the fact that they should be retailing at the same price).

Hardware wise the handsets are quite similar, we will start by saying what they both have, they both have GPS, Bluetooth 2.1, 8GB internal storage and 1150mAh batteries (however the Palm Pixi’s is removable), they also both have 2 megapixel camera however the Palm Pixi’s camera is accompanied with an LED flash.

The physical dimensions of the Palm Pixi are all smaller than the iPhone 3G in every aspect, also the Pixi weighs over one ounce less. The Palm Pixi does fall short in one major area as it doesn’t have WiFi. For a full comparison check out FastCompany’s article.

As for pricing the iPhone 3G is available on AT&T for $99, as for the Pixi it is expected to be available for $99 on Sprint. I think one thing that is going to make the Pixi quite favorable is the fact that the Pixi will be on Sprint, as so many are currently unhappy with AT&T’s coverage.
