Just in case you are still scratching your heads as to why the iPod Nano was the only iPod to recieve a camera upgrade, Apple’s bossman Steve Jobs has recently revealed the reason why the company chose to do it.
As reported from Engadget, Steve Jobs explained that the reason why the iPod Touch didn’t get a camera is because it’s a great ‘games machine’. Yep, thats what he said. He also revealed that the company didn’t know how to market the product at first, but listened to their customers and then focused on gaming.
When asked the question again though, Mr Jobs stated: “We don’t need to add new stuff, we need to get the price down to where everyone can afford it.” Well we can understand that statement in relation to the new 8GB iPod Touch $199 price point, but what about the $299 and $399 prices for the larger versions?
What do you think about his comments? Theres more over at Engadget.

Yesterday was the first time I was keenly disappointed in any rollout of new Apple products. The new ITunes and new product announcements were eclipsed by the missing camera in the new generation ITouch models. Steve Jobs’ rationale for excluding a camera within the iTouch to keep consumer’s prices down is only partially convincing. This camera exclusion may be convincing for the 8 gb iTouch model — but a very hard sell for the 32 and 64 gb models. I and others would gladly pay an extra thirty or forty bucks to get a higher-end iTouch models with a video camera.
Disappointed,
