New iPod Touch 2009: Would you pay more for camera?

Following on from the somewhat strange announcement of the iPod Nano being the ‘only’ device to benefit from a video camera option, we would like to know if you would pay more for an upgraded iPod Touch.

At the event, Steve Jobs announced new prices for the iPod Touch, starting at $199 for the 8GB, $299 for the 32GB model and $399 for the new 64GB model.

Much to the disappointment of the audience though, no camera. We find that a bit strange, considering the Touch is the best model out of the iPod range in our opinion.

Firstly, what are your thoughts on the news? Let us know if you would be willing to pay more than $199 for a upgraded iPod Touch model.

    No. I have a first generation touch,but
the new touch is not an upgrade without
    camara

I cannot believe there’s NOT gunnq be a camera on the new itouch. That’s so dumb. It’s like snickers without the caramel. ITOUCH NEEDS A CAMERAA!! I actually have 2 2nd gen itouches be I was gunna sell then both to get a new itouch. But not If it doesn’t have a camera. And I would most deff upgraded.

  3. Jillpure says:

I would buy a new iPod Touch if it had a camera. Currently I have a 2nd gen 32 gb model, so there is no advantage in buying the new Touch. It is disappointing.

  4. Sarah says:

I’d only pay for an upgraded itouch if it came with a camera and/or microphone.

look they have to leave separations between iphone and ipod touch. they make more money off iphones and they want to keep people wanting them. the more they make the two products alike the less they get from iphone. plus its a ipod its not meant to be able to do everything. be glad it does all it does. and yeah it looks like harddrive size is the only difference so if you dont want to upgrade then dont

I blame all the rumour mongers for letting us believe a camera was 100% defo for the third gen. I have even seen pictures of new cases with camera hole ready for 3G touch on engadget… what a complete let down!!!

I have been waiting for months for this release because all the rumors that there would be a camera. I am really upset they did not include a camera. Jobs must still be on too much meds to say we don’t need to add to it. Everyone expected and most wanted the camera. To me it’s not enough of an upgrade to be worth it. I would get the iphone but my carrier doesn’t have it and I’m not switching for that. They need to either expand the iphone to other providers or make the touch an iphone without the phone. this sucks.

I own two iphones one black, one white both 32GB 3GS, one 32gb 2d gen ipod touch and one old 80 gb ipod. I wanted the third gen ipod touch 64gb but has no camera, no microphone, no GPS capabilities. So you guys at Apple won’t get my money this year. The new ipod touch is really lame. Don’t waste your money on it.

  9. Bob says:

It actually comes with a mic, it’s just missing the camera.

  10. Padmakar says:

Definitely NOT. I am disappointed Apple hasn’t included camera to Ipod Touch. I was waiting for the upgraded version with camera. There is nothing new in the upgraded version except the new software which can be baught for $10. Why spend $199! It’s dumb on part of Apple to announce it as UPGRADE!
