Yesterday Apple revealed that their 3rd generation of iPod Touch’s are now available, there was a lot of disappointment due to the fact that the rumored camera turned out to just be a rumor, however we did get new pricing, a larger capacity and a faster processor.
There are now three models available from Apple, these are the 8GB, 32GB and 64GB models, currently the 8GB version will set you back $199.00, the 32GB version will set you back $299.00 and finally the 64GB version will set you back $399.00.
One of the biggest changes which we see in the 3rd generation iPod Touch is that it now features a faster processor, 2nd generation iPod Touch’s featured a ARM11 620MHz chip clocked down to 533MHz, however the 3rd generation iPod Touch’s have the same chip as the iPhone 3GS’s, which is an ARM Cortext-A8 833MHz clocked down to 600MHz.
A lot of the details are exactly the same as the 2nd generation, such as dimensions (110 mm x 61.8 mm x 8.5mm) and the weight is still 115 grams. Also the touchscreen display is still exactly the same size as previously (3.5 inch widescreen multi-touch display with a resolution of 480 x 320).
