For those of you who have an unlocked iPhone, you have been advised to ‘not’ update to the latest iPhone OS 3.1, unless you want to risk the possibility of losing your unlock permanently.
According to TheiPhoneBlog, one of the members of the unlock dev team posted on his twitter, stating the following message:
”3G+3GS unlockers..you must not update to official 3.1! unlock needs pre-hacked 3.1 with 04.26.08”
The iPhoneBlog stats that users will first need to hack the iPhone software, so that it includes modem firmware 04.26.08. Basically guys, its best to stick with the OS that you have at the moment, until clearer details are released, on how to maintain your unlock safely.
However, reports are suggesting that the jailbreak method will work fine with iTunes 9.0, so if you do try out that method, let us know how you get on.
