We have the first detailed iPhone 3.1 OS review for you to read now. It comes to us courtesy of MacWorld, who have tried and tested all the new features, as well as giving their verdict on the new security fixes.

As with all the previous iPhone OS updates, it is free to download. However, those of you using an iPod Touch will have to part with $5 to upgrade to the latest 3.1 update.

Yesterday was a huge day for Apple, with one of the big announcements coming in the way of iTunes 9. So it’s no surprise that iTunes 9 support is one of the main features of the new iPhone 3.1 update. As we have stated in our earlier reports on iTunes 9, one of the highlights of the new OS update, is the ability to manage your apps on the new iTunes 9 software. MacWorld have talked about this in detail, including images for you to look at too.

Other talking points of the new update is Genius Playlists, which recommends music and automatically creates mixes for you. You can also do this with your iPhone apps, as the new feature will record your habits and select apps for you, based on your recent activity.

As we reported on prior to the event, another feature of the 3.1 update is the arrival of pre-cut ringtones on the iTunes store.

Finally, MacWorld checks out all the latest security fixes and features, so head to the full review above and let us know your thoughts on it.
