Blackberry Outage: RIM’s network is down

Earlier today we reported about Verizon and WiFi equipped Blackberry phones for 2010, and while we have heard a lot of news of late about the RIM Blackberry brand, outage is not on the list.

In the last hour it’s just this news we are hearing, for some users the RIM BlackBerry network is down. According to Business Insider, some users are experiencing problems when trying to connect to the Research In Motion / Blackberry service.

The article here explains that there are many reports on Twitter, and these tweets are complaining of Blackberry outage, but this may be limited to just the BlackBerry Internet service.

    Long Island, NY. – just received a flood of email that was backlogged since early afternoon. RIM aparently had an outage.

    Yep – there is a confirmed outage with rim affecting all carriers. Spoke with Verizon and dealt with similar issues for sprint/nextel both sides…

    Problems reported:

    No email (no service books for new phone)
    Same email received every 15 minutes (duplicate)
    Can not access webclient.

    Verizon reported that they had no access to their BIS tool.

    Orange UK have said the full network is down for what could be 24 hours…..The iphone guys are laughing all the way !

    Here in UK orange Blackberry 8310 No data coming through. spoken to service provider and have been told that RIM says that BT have cut through a fibre optic cable but surely that wouldnt affect the rest of the world or would it?
    maybe it will if the server shuts off if it cant detect other connections at all times perhaps??

    BB still down for me, ATT in Atlanta. Just got off the phone with ATT they have no idea when it will be resolved.

    Yup, still down here in UK/Orange/8320 Land. Happened some time between 0040-0356 GMT this morning.

    Im in Glasgow UK on Orange with a Blackberry 8900. Had my last email at 0618 this morning and none since. Contacted Orange who told me it is affecting GPRS service and orange internet dongles and they have no Idea when it will be fixed.
    They told me that the problem actually started early last evening and they have been working on it since then.
    Strange that other countries are affected as well.

    No bis in Belfast all day, back on now. I was given the opticfibre excuse as well but they told me it was vandalized???
    Anyway, it seemed to work trough wifi, emails would come in, worth remembering next time:)

    UK vodafone:We have around 20-30 users who have no e-mail, some since 2am GMT – Has anyone got any update as to when this will be resolved….?

    I have my directors breathing down my kneck!

    spent 6 hrs w/tech support Verizon I can’t send/receive calls no internet they said it will be solved in 3 days

    I live in Bastrop, LA. No problems anytime today or tonight here. And I have AT&T. Which by the way. I hear so many people gripe & moan about AT&T. But I have been with them for years & I love them. I bought the I-phone a couple of years back & had nothing but problems. I sold it to a friend & bought a Blackberry & once again my service is fine. Before the I-phone; I used the old & new Razr. The I-phone is \”CRAP\”.

    Re RIM outage on 10th septebmer
    this wasnt an outage as such, thanks to some mindless vandals who very kindly destroyed a fibre cable somewhere in the Heathrow area we lost a HUGE amount of blackberry traffic this resulted in call queues in the call centre in excess of 300 at times, the mindless yobs who do this kind of thing need to think a lot harder than what they did – that little cable they ripped up affected thousands of people and must have cost businesses tens of thousands of pounds.

    Rite guys I’m from coventry in the uk I am on a orange contract and I have not had any problems at all over the last couple of days works perfect and I can talk to all my contacts, my brother brought a blackberry yesterdau and phoned up to get the data plan on pay as you go but its been 2days now and it still has not come threw, they said payments to canada are broken so they can’t set it up, yesterday for a short period of time every chip and pin system in the world was down….so maybe it has something to do with that
