Security: iPhone 3.1 fixes vulnerabilities
By: Alan Ng | September 9, 2009 | Leave a CommentAs most of you will be aware, Apple have just rolled out the iPhone 3.1 firmware update. We spoke about some of the new features it will add earlier, but now we have more details on the security vulnerabilities that the update will address.
As reported from Macnn, the iPhone 3.1 OS will now disable any “Require Passcode” values, which are greater than the maximum inactivity time lock setting, thus eliminating the time gap and making things a lot more stable.
Another known update in 3.1, is that you’ll no longer be able to access messages in your Mail folder after they have been deleted, when using the Spotlight app.
Macnn have also stated that 3.1 fixes malicious AAC/MP3 files, which previously allowed the execution of arbitrary code. More details on this can be found in the link above.
The update is available to download now, for all iPhone and iPhone 3GS owners.
