It is no secret that a lot of AT&T users only joined the carrier due to the fact that they had exclusivity for iPhone, it is also no secret that a lot of AT&T’s customers are extremely unhappy with their service and if a competitor was able to offer the iPhone they would leave without hesitation.

A recent article on ComputerWorld looks into the relationship that AT&T have with Apple, many people believe that the fact that AT&T have previously not been able to offer multimedia messaging or tethering has really frustrated Apple, it is thought that AT&T will finally allow MMS later this month.

For full details on the frustrations that AT&T have caused Apple and also what AT&T believe is responsible for the poor service check out ComputerWorld.

Why should the iphone be exclusive to one carrier?
Apple sells more phones if all the carriers sell their phones. The only entity that benefits from exclusivity is the carrier, certainly not their customers.
I have a Palm Pre and my buddy has an iphone.
Sprint’s EVDO stomps ATT’s data speed into the ground. There are pages my friend’s iphone won’t even pull up.
I am reading a page while he is still waiting for the same page to load (if it ever loads).
Granted, Apple has a nice app store but the slow connection is a real downer.
