IBM and Linux to make fastest stock exchange software

Are you a keen follower of the stock exchanges? If you are, you might be interested to know that it is actually the Linux operating system that runs a lot of the exchanges.

As reported from PC World, we have heard news that the new and upcoming trading infrastructure will make of use ”IBM WebSphere MQ Low Latency Messaging”, as well as Linux which as a result, will make it the fastest stock exchange software in the world.

To put this into perspective, the new system will be able to ‘easily’ perform more than a million trades per second, which will put it easily ahead of the NY Stock Exchange.

We may now see the LSE (London Stock Exchange) adopt this new linux system, in favor of Windows. Full article over at PC World.
