Microsoft News: Five critical security updates
By: Alan Ng | September 4, 2009 | Leave a CommentMicrosoft have just announced that they are to deliver five ‘critical security updates’ next week, which will affect all versions of their operating systems. The updates will be going live on Tuesday and as they are labelled ‘critical’, it means they will be the company’s highest threat ratings.
Thats according to this report from Computer World, who have stated that it is unusual that Microsoft have not stated what the update is for, as they usually would.
Four of the five updates will affect Windows Vista, while the same four updates will also target Windows Server 2008. Andrew Storms, who is the director of security operations at nCircle Network Security, had this to say on the updates:
“I’m a little bit at a loss for words. There doesn’t seem to be anything here that has been disclosed publicly.” He also thinks that the updates might have something to do with the flaws in Microsoft’s Active Template Library (ATL).
