Malfunctioning PS3 Controllers and Firmware 3.0

By: Jamie Pert | September 4, 2009 | 1 Comment

Recently there has been a growing topic on the official PlayStation 3 forum which suggests that after installing firmware 3.0 ceramic white DualShock3 controllers suffer connection issues, this is the second reported issue that Sony have experienced since installing firmware 3.0

The connection issues are quite serious as pairing the controller with the console becomes impossible, even if plugging directly in to the console via USB, it seems that other controllers connect fine and this is an isolated issue with one particular model of PS3 controllers.

A recent update on JoyStiq seems to suggest that the problem may be only occurring for “knock-off” controllers, whether Sony have decided to target these controllers is unknown at the moment, however JoyStiq have contacted Sony.

Since installing firmware 3.0 have you had any controller connection problems?
