YouTube Movie Rentals: Lions Gate, Sony, Time Warner, and more
By: Alan Ng | September 3, 2009 | Leave a CommentIt has been revealed that YouTube are locked in discussions with the major movie studios such as Lions Gate, Sony and Time Warner, over the possibility of providing streaming movie rentals on YouTube.
According to this article from MacRumors, it is thought that these movies will be able to rent for about $3.99, which is around the same price that Apple currently charges customers on their iTunes store.
If the move does go ahead, it could see the rentals become available at exactly the same time that they come out on DVD, with even some companies preparing to offer ad-free distribution.
No word on when this service will be launched, but we’ll keep you updated on the situation. Full article over at MacRumors.
