Is PS3 Firmware 3.0 Freezing Your Games?

yepp, my ps3 froze yesterday on LittleBigPlanet AFTER downloading da 3.0 update

Yes have had freezing also on my original 60 gig model while playing metal gear solid.. 4 times now!! this is not good SONY!!!

No both of my ps3′s are good to go with all the games I have played. Love my sackboy running arround in the background as well:). Thanks sony cant wait to see more backgrounds I have been waiting for that for a while now.

no problems here. not even with uncharted… i slipped it in yesterday to play and test the rumors. no freezes, just made me all excited for uncharted 2 is all.

Was playing Uncharted yesterday for a few hours, no problems here. My PS3 does freeze once in a while anyway, so it’d be hard to tell if the firmware was to blame.

When I closed the Internet browser on the PS3 and went to music to play a song it froze on me when I did click on the song.
I also noticed that it no longer allows you to play a song while going away from the song you’re playing screen, it used to be that if you were playing a song you could press the PS button and go somewhere else while still listening to the song but now if you press the PS button while playing a song it ask you if you want to exit and if you press yes the song stops if you press no it puts you right back to the song playing screen but doesn’t let you go away and keep listening the song at the same time.

updated my PS3 yesterday, and it started freezing when playing uncharted.

brand new PS3… only had it for 2 weeks… worked great, as soon as i did the update.. froze on Army of Two, COD4, Midnight Club 4 and Battlefield 1943….

I downloaded the latest update yesterday 03/09/09 and my PS3
is now crawling. It won’t load pictures from an external hard drive and takes forever to open main menu items.I am extremely unhappy because there was nothing wrong with the firmware as it was and you can’t refuse to update. Not unless you disconnect from the Net and why would you bother having a PS3 if you can’t use the net?

yep. arkham asylum froze up, then the system freezes on startup. wtf! only since 3.0, never had a problem before that, maybe froze 5 or 6 times in over two years. this is very upsetting.

Yes, I just bought the PS3 slim 4 days ago (Thursday) downloaded 3.0 on Friday, then started playing Uncharted (brand-new game) on Saturday. It played fine until it froze at a certain point in level 4, and I now can’t get past it no matter what I do. It’s infuriating because it’s an amazing game and I’m desperate to complete it. I hope they can release a patch for it really soon.

cant get on metal gear 4 online any more and the system freezes.. i have to shut it off in the back with the switch and it wont respond to the front powerr switch at all during that time

Since 3.0 my ps3 freezes even before the Xoss bar… it shows the sparkly shit in the background and then freezes on that screen. Now all of a sudden it won’t even show that… awesome job sony.

Just bought the PS3 slim today along with a copy of Uncharted. Set up the PS3, popped in the disc, played for a few minutes before it froze at chapter 2. Took the disc back to gamestop, got a new one, brought it home and popped it in, continued the game, froze in the same spot on chapter 2. Started a new game, played through the point it froze on before, froze during one of the videos a little later on in the game. The game is virtually unplayable on this new system with the new update. My first impression of the PS3 is not favorable. It’s kind of aggravating.

i have experienced freezing on my madden 2010 after the update any word on a fix yet?!

This is not the piece of equipment that i paid over £400 for. I did not ask Sony to ‘dumb-down’ my console or give me a screen resolution of 420 X 420. Why, i ask myself, did i buy a HDTV ?

There is a serious issue with the new ‘BLUR’ function – i have suffered 1 migraine already and lots of watering eyes as they fight against the BLUR… thank you Sony, for the physical discomfort.

I would invite others not to spend any more money on Sony products until they at least explain the inapropriate and compulsory UI changes ? 95% of forum posters feel the same from EU and America (i cant read the Japanese posts).

I tried playing Batman: Arkam Asylum last night. The PS3 froze on me 6 time in three hours, yes 6 times in 3 hours. No joke. This needs to be fixed NOW!!! Would a PS3 Restore take me back to the old OS?

Same thing here, Arkam. Awesome game before the darn 3.0 upgrade. Hoping to play through once these issues are fixed.

Yup, soon after installing the firmware update, even Ultimate Alliance freezes up (though only in Asgard so far). I could do without the interface upgrades, but if the system can’t even manage basic gaming, it’s a pretty pointless system. Come on, Sony, let’s get those fixes posted – stat!

after the update my little big planet wount even load up thanks sony n its 1 of your games n had trouble with burnout paradice it will only load up if im off line.

Downloaded the 3.0 update and can not play more than 5 minutes of Uncharted without the PS3 freezing.

My ps3, which ran proudly and flawlessly, completely quit reading any type of disc whatsoever after the Update, which was forced upon us. I now have the biggest, most expensive MP3 player I have ever saw. This is BS, im not going MS or anything stupid like that, but I might have to quit playing games completely if this becomes an ongoing prob. with Sony now. Im not paying for something that they messed up, and MANY of others aren’t either. They need to quit denying the problem exists and just fix it, and before its too late for any damage control.

I bought a ps3 slim just last week, and had to do the update, which took ages and it’s crashed / frozen numerous times in the three days ive actually been using it! – and omg, how many loading bars / progress bars / installing bars are there on the damn thing! I just want to play games!! If your considering buying one, my adviseis don’t! Get a 360 instead – so it’s noisy and runs a high chance of red ringing! But it’s soo much more than the ps3 offers in terms of user interface and general speed and ease of use, I really hope they fix the ps3 soon, I can’t get over how bad this console is!!

I had the same issue some are having here with the ps3 slim with 3.0 downloaded from Sony. I too experienced some freezing playing Batman AA and the Bigs 2, I took my ps3 back to the store and got it replaced with a new one. Now, I can play the games without any slow down or freezing using the 2.8 firmware it had. BUT..I wont be able to play online because I am afraid to download this 3.0 thing again and get the same problems. Hope there’s a fix to this mess soon.

After update to 3.00 uncharted 1 began to randomly freeze and today it didn’t even start (after naughty dog logo just black screen and music). bad company freezes while loading at 11% – if i try to quit the game – system shuts down. And the most annoying – it does not connect to psn!!! but i figured out that if i disconnect the controller – psn connection appears immediately!!! it’s really strange… And IT ALL NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE THE UPDATE!!! update to 3.01 didn’t fix these problems… it’s all very very very annoying!!! PLEASE SONY FIX THIS ASAP!!!!!

my froze on NFS Undercover and it dont read BluRay disc at all since then.I’ll try go back to older version if that not gonna help i’ll send it to sony
