Nokia N900: T-Mobile vs. AT&T and Rogers

By: Alan Ng | September 1, 2009 | 3 Comments

Some more info on the upcoming Nokia N900 now, as it has been reported that AT&T and Rogers customers still might miss out on the device, after Nokia refused to confirm if a compatible version is on the way.

As reported from BGR, T-Mobile customers are laughing as the network’s 1700 MHz band will be one of three supported by the Nokia N900, along with the 900 and 2100 Mhz bands.

A statement from Nokia reads: ”Regarding the Nokia N900, we have announced a tri-band WCDMA version that utilizes the 900/1700/2100 MHz networks. There have been no announcements regarding a version that supports the 850/1900/2100MHz bands.”

As of yet though, nothing is confirmed so AT&T and Rogers customers still might have hope yet. Then again, if the phone is one that you really want, it may be time to jump ship to T-Mobile before its too late.

I prefer T-Mobile over ATT anyway. Happy N900 will be on T-Mobile USA.

    How come Nokia’s site says

    Operating frequency
    Quad-band GSM EDGE 850/900/1800/1900
    WCDMA 900/1700/2100 MHz

Sure the device can be used on AT&T’s edge network, that’s not what people are concerned about.

The stink is over the WCDMA (3G) frequencies. They match up (and were approved by the FCC) for T-Mobiles US network and not AT&T’s.

I wouldn’t want to use this on AT&T’s 3G network anyway with the trouble they’ve had supporting the iPhones. You think their service is rotten now, just add another ‘high data usage’ device like the N900 and watch all data slow down to modem speeds…

I’m actually happy this device is ready for the T-Mobiles 3G network. Finally gives me a reason to give up my iPhone 3G.
